(Late-night post) The all-new, experimental Re Fresh fragrance project has officially launched!

Re Pillow Co. has always only made bedding, so why doesn't it make perfumes?

Because I wanted to try something new through perfume.

In Hong Kong and around the world, many problems occur every day: climate change, children's issues in impoverished countries, abuse and abandonment of cats and dogs... These are all familiar to everyone. With social progress, social problems seem to have improved, but problems keep coming one after another and are not so easy to solve.

Faced with various social and livelihood issues, the common solution in the past has been to rely on spontaneous donations from citizens. However, donations require a person to have a very kind heart to do so voluntarily, and donors do not gain much tangible benefit (even donations from charity sales are not commensurate with the donors' gains), so the effect is indeed not ideal.

After much deliberation, I decided to try something through Re Pillow Co.:

I want to create a product with zero profit, where all proceeds after deducting costs are donated to organizations in need. The Re Fresh perfume product page details all costs and donations, ensuring transparency.

In other words, I won't lose money, but I also won't make money.

Unlike typical donation models, consumers purchase these products at market price, receiving a return equal to their initial investment. The only difference is that the store (or I) will donate the money they paid. Therefore, consumers don't incur any additional costs; they can simply engage in meaningful consumption as usual.

As for why I chose perfume? Firstly, because its profit margin is higher, allowing me to donate more money. Also, I have a good friend who is a professional perfumer, enabling me to create professional-quality perfumes at a lower price. Another reason is that perfume is a consumable and a great gift. I hope that the concept of Re Fresh perfume can be promoted through gifting and word-of-mouth, so that people can repurchase it after using it up, or remember Re Fresh perfume when recommending Hong Kong perfumes to others, making the program sustainable and helping more people.

If the Re Fresh fragrance project is successful, this model might be a viable way to solve social problems. In the future, we could try applying this model to other new products while maintaining operations. Alternatively, some large companies might see its feasibility and use it in their products, and everyone would benefit.

Detailed information about Re Fresh fragrances can be found on the product page. They include men's, women's, and unisex fragrances, but due to space limitations, it will not be elaborated here. They will also be available at the iSQUARE in Tsim Sha Tsui and the Taikoo Shing store starting tomorrow (August 2, 2023). Feel free to visit and try them out!
