Re Pillow's philosophy and design were quickly embraced by users, sparking a mini-craze: Our production often couldn't keep up, and we were constantly out of stock. Users loved this pillow, which was unlike anything else on the market and could be freely adjusted. Friends recommended friends, and everyone was using Re Pillow.As a result, various media outlets also reported on my pillow:

However, how to move forward is the most important.

And I believe that listening to user feedback, understanding the difficulties customers face when choosing pillows in the market, and thinking about how to improve are key.

Therefore, for the past two years, I have set up a Google form to collect user feedback, to understand what users really like and don't want to change, and what can be improved and done better. Sometimes I also email customers to ask about their experience after using the product, to understand any difficulties in use, and talk to customers on the phone to understand different people's preferences for pillows. Sometimes I go to the store to chat with visiting customers, to understand their usual preferences when buying pillows, the difficulties they encounter when purchasing pillows, etc. All for a very simple wish: I hope to truly make a good pillow.

On August 2, 2021, our most popular Re Pillow 2 was launched. And on August 2, 2023, exactly two years after the launch of Re Pillow 2, Re Pillow 3, which retains the qualities of Re Pillow 2 that everyone has always loved but with many details further improved, was officially launched. Now, let's begin the introduction.

While designing Re Pillow 3, I kept asking myself a question: should I change the highly-praised pillow core that has been used all along?

I've noticed that many pillow brands on the market often change the material of their pillow cores whenever they launch a new pillow. Each new pillow core material is different, giving a sense of innovation and new product. But it makes me ask myself a question:

If every brand uses new materials for every new pillow, who can truly understand the characteristics of a material and bring out its best?

Researching products and understanding materials requires focus and time. What I want to do is create truly comfortable pillows that help people sleep well every night. Whether it feels innovative or can attract consumers is not important to me. This was also my original intention when I started Re Pillow. If my decisions were the same as other bedding companies, merely hoping to attract consumers rather than focusing on whether the product is truly well-made and genuinely comfortable, a pillow that I myself would enjoy using every night, then I couldn't live with it. I wouldn't be able to sleep well staring at the ceiling at night. I believe that by staying true to our original intention, we can achieve our goals.

The pillow core of Re Pillow 2 has undergone several adjustments and upgrades over time, and is now in its fourth version. The thickness, shape, and length of the core fibers, as well as the proportion of various materials, have all been meticulously considered. Its development has matured, and many customers have told me that they were recommended by friends to try Re Pillow because of our pillow core material (perhaps you, who are reading this, are one of them). Therefore, for Re Pillow 3, I decided to continue using this widely acclaimed, exclusively developed core material and formally name it the Signature Core. After so many people have tried it, I believe it deserves this name; it represents our mark.

The most important aspect of a pillow is the texture of its core material. This determines whether you sleep well or struggle to fall asleep. Re Pillow 3 features our self-developed and extensively tested Signature core. Signature combines soft, microfibers that mimic natural down with more supportive pearl cotton. This blend of softness and firmness creates a pillow that is incredibly soft and fluffy, yet also provides excellent support for the cervical spine, making you want to hug it to sleep and giving you the sensation of sleeping on a cloud.

Most cotton pillows, like hotel pillows, are too soft and collapse immediately, leaving the cervical spine unsupported and often leading to morning aches. Therefore, the pearl cotton in the Signature core formula is specially designed with small curls, acting like tiny springs. This makes it more durable and resilient than ordinary cotton pillows, preventing shoulder and neck pain in the morning due to insufficient pillow support.

If I had to describe the texture of the Signature pillow core in words, I would quote a customer who once said it was like "the texture of honey wheat bread." The Re Pillow 3's texture is more akin to some Western restaurant bread served before a meal, offering a more substantial, chewy, and elastic feel.

What Re Pillow is best known for is our pioneering "free-adjustable core" design.

A simple yet very useful design.

For a pillow to be comfortable, in addition to the comfortable texture of the pillow's inner material, the appropriate pillow height is also very important.

Everyone's body shape, sleeping position, and preferred pillow height are different. When I first started learning about various pillows, I realized that a pillow with a fixed shape could not suit everyone. Therefore, Re Pillow is not a fixed shape or fixed height design.

Re Pillow 3 has a zipper on the side to remove the inner pillow material. This allows you to adjust the pillow height by varying the amount of inner filling. This enables the unique you to adjust the pillow height and filling to suit your needs, just like a custom-made pillow, avoiding the problem of buying a pillow that isn't the right height. In addition, during production, we deliberately "overfill" the pillow slightly to give you more freedom to add or remove filling.

But that's not enough! To achieve an even better standard, in Re Pillow 3, we upgraded the original ordinary garment zipper to a seamless invisible zipper from YKK Corporation (hereinafter referred to as: YKK) in Japan, ensuring smoother and more durable operation. YKK is an industry giant in zippers. Although there are increasingly more competitors claiming to achieve close to YKK quality at lower prices, YKK's quality is still widely recognized as the best in the industry. The zippers are smoother, and the metal is more durable, so it feels smooth even after many uses. A pillow is also a product that will be used for many years. I don't want users, after many years of use, to find the entire pillow unusable because the zipper has rusted and jammed, or the zipper pull's metal has broken off when opened, due to the passage of time. That is not right. Therefore, Re Pillow must use the best zippers available on the market. Use the best, do the best.

Q: How do I store the removed pillow filling material?

We include a resealable plastic bag in each pillow package, so customers can properly store the pillow filling material they have just removed.

USA x Turkey x Hong Kong Collaborative R&D: Not only features NANOTEX® water and stain resistance, but also automatic temperature regulation and breathability, ensuring a more comfortable sleep.

External materials are just as important as the internal ones. In 2023, the bed became a place for binge-watching dramas, lounging, scrolling through phones, snacking, and drinking all sorts of beverages. However, when we do these various activities in bed, accidents that cause stains can easily happen. For example, while eating or drinking, drinks might drip onto the pillow, or even seep into the pillow core. Furthermore, after a pillow has been used for a while, human sweat can turn into sweat stains on the pillow. Even if you change the outer pillowcase, the dirty interior will still accompany you to sleep every night. If the inside of the pillow cannot be cleaned, it will develop odors, or even patches of stains. This not only makes the pillow look unclean but also poses hygiene problems.

So, from the very beginning of designing the first generation Re Pillow, I always wanted to solve this problem. Then I finally found a material — NANOTEX®, a "forbidden" material in the bedding industry.

If athletes are prohibited from taking certain "doping" drugs before a competition because these drugs would give them an unfairly advantageous edge, then NANOTEX® is the "doping" drug of the bedding world. This is because NANOTEX® can give pillows a longer lifespan. Other pillows, due to accidents or other reasons, might gradually develop stains over time, or even have stains seep into the pillow core and cause odors.

When designing Re Pillow, I noticed that there were also various third-party waterproof pillow covers on the market. Although their prices were significantly lower than NANOTEX®, upon comparison, I found their effectiveness to be inferior to NANOTEX®. Some, even if their stain resistance was comparable, altered the fabric's original soft and breathable texture, which was not ideal. Therefore, I ultimately decided that if I was going to do it, I would do it best. In the bedding industry, we are the first and only company in Hong Kong to use NANOTEX® technology. Consequently, our pillows are not only breathable and comfortable but also remain as good as new over time.

But Comfort Shield is more than just waterproof and stain-resistant......

For the past two years, I've been thinking about how to improve Re Pillow 2 and enhance sleep quality. What I noticed was that there was still room for improvement in the face fabric material of Re Pillow 2 at the time. Historically, the fabric we used was made of polyester, and while it was waterproof and stain-resistant with NANOTEX® technology, some people who tend to be hot or have a higher body temperature might find the area where their head rests on the pillow to be stuffy, or even sweat, during Hong Kong's hot summers, which affects sleep. This was a key focus point during the development of Re Pillow 3.

First, I replaced the original polyester surface of the pillow with plant fibers to improve moisture-wicking and temperature control capabilities. This significantly reduced the "stuffiness" people felt from the pillow, but I wanted to go beyond that. On top of this, I incorporated temperature-regulating PCM (Phase Change Material) particles into the face fabric. This material is scientifically proven to cool the human body.

The principle is this: these materials absorb or release heat and change form depending on the surrounding environment. When you feel that the environment is very hot, the PCM material melts and absorbs your body heat, making you feel cool. And when you feel cold, the PCM material solidifies, releasing the previously absorbed heat, making you feel instantly warm. While doing all this, I didn't want to sacrifice the NANOTEX® waterproof and stain-resistant properties that we and many users have loved.

Finally, we adopted a multi-layer fabric design, successfully incorporating all these features into the fabric and naming it: Comfort Shield by Re Pillow Co..

Let me break down this Comfort Shield for you......

To achieve such a complex, precise, and technically demanding design, I commissioned a three-way collaboration between a world-class fabric technology manufacturer in Turkey, NANOTEX® in the United States, and our Re Pillow Co. in Hong Kong. Together, we designed and produced the fabric for this Re Pillow 3. We completely redesigned the weaving method of the entire fabric, improved its structure, and simultaneously applied multiple technologies such as PCM material, plant fiber face fabric structure, and NANOTEX® water and stain resistance to this fabric. The entire fabric was supervised, designed, and manufactured in this first-class Turkish textile factory. It combines water resistance, stain resistance, temperature regulation, breathability, and moisture wicking. It feels slightly cool to the touch in summer, but not icy cold in winter. It surpasses the material of Re Pillow 2, and as for the gap with other pillows? It's even wider!

But honestly, this fabric is really well made. Of course, don't just take my word for it; you'll feel it for yourself when you purchase it.

The face fabric has a white base color, with the letters RPC (short for Re Pillow Co.) woven in Re Pillow Co.'s light blue. The bottom of the fabric is also specially woven in Re Pillow Co.'s light blue. These are all deliberately designed pillow details.

Awarded SGS Performance Mark Certification

Re Pillow 3's Comfort Shield fabric has received the Performance Mark certification from SGS, an international authoritative testing organization, confirming the fabric's breathability, stain repellency, and water repellency.

To date, we are the only pillow in Hong Kong with SGS Performance Mark certification. The quality of our materials and production has been affirmed, which we believe is more convincing than other pillow recommendation articles.

Q: Will NANOTEX® make the pillow less breathable?

NANOTEX® does not affect the pillow's breathability because NANOTEX® technology alters the chemical properties of the fabric at the nanoscale, giving it stain-resistant properties. This is precisely what makes NANOTEX® technology so advanced. The fabric retains its original softness and breathability, and even has tiny breathable pores, yet it effectively prevents dirty water droplets from penetrating the pillow. Once you purchase a Re Pillow 3, touch it, sprinkle water, or even drip oil on it to test its stain resistance, and you'll understand why typical waterproof pillow brands don't want you to have a NANOTEX® protected pillow.

Q: Can NANOTEX® be washed? If washed, will it "wash away" the nanotechnology, affecting the pillow's waterproof and stain-resistant performance?

I had the same concern, and the best way to address it? Testing. Laboratory tests show that even after 10 machine washes (most people only wash their pillows once every 1 to 2 years), the waterproof and stain-resistant performance of Re Pillow 3 still exceeds NANOTEX®'s factory standards, with only very minor differences compared to before the 10 washes. The effect of NANOTEX® truly cannot be matched by other ordinary waterproof and stain-resistant materials on the market.

I carefully considered every detail of the pillow because I am a user of my own product. Since pillows are products that are very close to the face, cleaning them is extremely important. Although Re Pillow 3 already has stain-resistant material, it would be even better if the pillow could be directly washable. Most people use latex, memory foam, or cotton pillows, which cannot be directly washed. Since they lack stain-resistant material, bacteria, dust mites, and other things can easily breed, leading to various skin problems.

Therefore, Re Pillow 3 can be washed completely, whether by hand or machine. Of course, we recommend that customers also use it with a regular pillowcase and wash the pillowcase frequently; that would be even better.

During a roughly one-hour washing machine cycle, as the pillow soaks in water for an extended period, water can seep into the pillow through the zipper, seams, and other areas. Therefore, after washing the pillow, in addition to letting it air dry, we recommend putting it directly into a dryer. This ensures that the pillow's inner core is completely dry before it can be used again.

I hope to be able to continue maintaining our own production line in Hong Kong and producing pillows locally. I believe Hong Kong pillows will become the choice for those who demand quality. We collaborate with companies from the United States, Turkey, China, and Japan to procure materials we cannot produce ourselves, and then manufacture Re Pillow Hong Kong pillows in our own factory in Kwai Chung.

While most bedding companies outsource pillow production to contract manufacturers, I want to establish our pillow production line in Hong Kong. Because pillows are used daily, close to our respiratory systems for extended periods, quality is paramount. Having a factory in Hong Kong would allow for greater transparency throughout the entire pillow production process and better quality control. You absolutely deserve a Hong Kong-made pillow crafted with such dedication. Furthermore, precisely because of manufacturing and production in Hong Kong, I can offer superior customer service, such as faster restocking times and express delivery.

There's something I want to say: we absolutely do not flaunt the phrase "Made in Hong Kong" to parade around, capitalize on nationalistic sentiment, or engage in emotional blackmail. Re Pillow Co. focuses solely on making excellent products. We believe that if a product is good enough, it will sell well even if "Made in Hong Kong" is downplayed; those who buy it will understand. This is also why I put "Made in Hong Kong" at the end of the introduction — I don't want it to be the main focus, because our product is genuinely that good.

Are you someone who likes a high pillow? Or have you ever tried stacking two pillows when your old one started to flatten and wasn't high enough? I've tried it too. But it wasn't ideal because two stacked pillows are often too high, while one pillow alone is too low...

Precisely because everyone has different height preferences for pillows, Re Pillow 3 is intentionally "over-filled" at the factory. When unboxed, the pillow already contains about 130-150% of the normal filling amount, ensuring that those who prefer high pillows have sufficient height, while those who prefer low pillows can remove the excess cotton and save it for future use.

This is actually more than sufficient for most people, but I understand that everyone's preferences are different. Some people genuinely like very, very high pillows, or want a little more cotton to experiment with their preferred pillow height, or even want more cotton to refill the pillow as it ages, extending its lifespan.

I completely understand, so I want to do something special for you.

Please allow me to explain below:

Remember how I mentioned at the beginning of this article that, like you, I also bought many unsuitable pillows not long ago? My whole house was full of pillows, just sitting there unused, but it felt a shame and a waste to throw them away... Some old pillows were still perfectly good, but flattened and uncomfortable.

Everyone has different pillow height preferences, and you might only realize a pillow isn't right after bringing it home. Many people have experienced this. Pillows are a very personal product. Some prefer high pillows, some prefer low ones, and besides height, pillow shape is also a matter of individual preference.

In the past, I didn't design the popular fixed-shape pillows found on the market. One main reason for this is that fixed-shape pillows have a big problem: salespeople often tell you that the shape is good for your neck and spine, and you might not feel too bad trying it in the store. However, sometimes after taking it home and using it for a period, you might dislike it, feeling the pillow is too high, too low, or the shape isn't quite right. Since the pillow has a fixed shape, if you buy the wrong one, there's actually no way to remedy it then.

Because these fixed-shape pillows are "mass-produced" by molds, even if a size is liked or suitable by most people, or if it's a best-selling style, it might not be suitable for you.

This isn't anyone's fault; it's simply that pillows really depend on personal preference.

Even if fixed-shape pillows sometimes come in different sizes, you might still buy the wrong size inadvertently, leading to the feeling that the pillow doesn't suit you once you get home.

Therefore, until I could solve the above problem, Re Pillow has always used a pure fill design. The intention was to allow users, after purchasing, to adjust the pillow's height at home at any time according to their current preferences and needs, by unzipping the side zipper and adjusting the amount of inner filling material.

However, after talking with more customers, it's undeniable that some people do prefer fixed-shape pillows, valuing the extra support they can provide for the neck. But when buying this type of pillow, they also told me that they often encounter situations where they buy the wrong pillow, or after using it for a period, they feel the pillow isn't right, but cannot adjust it themselves at home. This made me think about how to solve this problem.

Finally, after continuous testing and experimentation, I found an excellent solution. And I call it:

What is Pro Add-On

The Pro Add-On is an independent component that can be attached to the Re Pillow 3. It gives the Re Pillow 3 more shapes and ways to use it, enhancing the pillow's support for the neck. It's difficult to explain in words, so please allow me to use illustrations below:

The Re Pillow 3 has a long zipper along the side of the pillow, allowing users to easily adjust the amount of filling inside to change the pillow's height.

The Pro Add-On is inserted through this opening, providing better neck support. Because of this design, the pillow is divided into two sections, allowing users to independently adjust the height support for the neck and the back of the head. This offers greater control over the pillow's shape and support to suit individual preferences.

Adjustable Pro Add-On

The Pro Add-On consists of three parts: a central cylinder and two layers of thickening pads, all made from 100% premium Thai latex. Attaching the central cylinder is as easy as putting on a jacket: users can simply insert the central cylinder into the thickening pads at any time and secure it with the included Japanese YKK invisible zipper to adjust the thickness of the Pro Add-On to their pillow preferences.

Two Usage Modes of the Pro Add-On

When designing the Pro Add-On, because I knew many users really love the feel of our in-house developed Signature core material, I kept it and hoped to make it even better with the Pro Add-On. The Pro Add-On cleverly divides the pillow into two halves, so users can not only sleep on the latex Pro Add-On, but also use the Signature core side as a neck support, freely choosing the pillow's feel. What's more, both the Pro Add-On side and the Signature core side are adjustable, so the adjustability feature isn't lost due to its shape. This is truly a healthy pillow that caters to individual needs and benefits the cervical spine.

The Re Pillow 3 comes in three sizes: Re Pillow 3, Re Pillow 3 XL, and Re Pillow 3 mini. The three sizes only differ in dimensions; the materials, features, and functions are identical. The Pro Add-On can only be added to the Re Pillow 3 and Re Pillow 3 XL, and is not compatible with the Re Pillow 3 mini.
