// Let me state upfront that this post isn't meant to sell you anything. My goal is simply to share two tips to help you choose a pillow in the future, hoping to make some informed decisions. After all, there are so many pillows to choose from, and selecting one is quite an art. And I'm a bit of a pillow novice myself, currently focused entirely on making good pillows and related products. Of course, my long-term goal is for you to have the opportunity to try my pillow products…

What should I pay attention to when buying a pillow?

Tip #1: The pillow has a supportive feel but isn't too firm.

The texture of a pillow should be just right—supportive but not too firm. To sleep well, the pillow must first provide sufficient support to properly support the head, preventing pressure on the neck and avoiding strain on the neck, which can lead to neck and shoulder pain upon waking. However, the pillow should not be too firm either; it needs to be just right for a good night's sleep.

Tip #2: Make sure your pillow is the right height.

Secondly, the pillow height must be appropriate, a point many people overlook. No matter how advanced the materials, if the pillow height isn't suitable for your body shape and sleeping position—too high or too low—you won't sleep well. This is why you might encounter situations where a pillow with universally positive reviews isn't suitable for you. Therefore, you should first understand your usual sleeping position and then choose a pillow based on that position.

So how do you find your "usual sleeping position"? If you already know your sleeping position, you can use that position to choose a pillow.

But if you're like me and not entirely sure about your sleeping position, here's a little tip that might help:

Many people assume that their sleeping position when they fall asleep is their usual sleeping position, but this isn't necessarily accurate because we're not actually still when we sleep. Most people toss and turn after falling asleep, and the sleeping position when falling asleep isn't necessarily their true sleeping position. To find your true sleeping position, try paying attention to your posture when you wake up. Every morning when you wake up, don't move; pay attention to your sleeping position at that moment. Try this for several days, ideally one to two weeks, and you'll find your most frequently used "habitual sleeping position." This method is more accurate than paying attention to the position you use when you close your eyes.

Once you have a "favorite sleeping position," you can use it to choose the right pillow height for yourself. The main function of a pillow is to prevent your neck from being unsupported while sleeping, avoiding muscle tension and pain caused by neck strain during sleep. Therefore, the best pillow height for you is one that keeps your neck in a straight line with your head. When sleeping, whether lying flat on your back or on your side, your cervical spine should form a straight line with your body, not "leaning" forward or "leaning" backward. This is the most suitable pillow height for you. Of course, everyone's preferences are different, and some people may prefer pillows that are too high or too low. However, be aware that pillows that are too high or too low can cause neck pain, so ultimately, the pillow height should be something you like while also ensuring a good night's sleep.

The two tips above should help you choose a suitable pillow.

Our Hong Kong-made pillows are developed in-house, and their quality has always been popular and highly praised, making them a recommended choice for many. The pillows feature a filled design with a side zipper, allowing customers to adjust the filling amount as needed to change the pillow height. This eliminates the worry of buying the wrong pillow due to inaccurate measurements after trying them on in-store. To further enhance customer flexibility, we intentionally "overfill" the pillows. If a customer requires a higher pillow, they can request a refill pack within one year of purchase. This ensures you get a truly unique pillow that's perfectly suited to you.
