Origin: Why did Re Pillow Co. partner with the SAA charity?
Customers who have been following us will know that I have always hoped Re Pillow Co. could try to do a little more in our own way, to see if, through everyone's collective efforts, we might perhaps make the world a better place.
Therefore, our recent old bed linen collection event, in collaboration with the Society for Abandoned Animals (SAA), where we collected much-needed supplies for the association at our store, was one such attempt. Subsequently, due to the SAA's warehouses being full, and the discovery of someone allegedly maliciously packing itch powder and live cockroaches inside bed sheets, sealing them in boxes, and sending them to us, the SAA decided to halt the bed linen collection. Fortunately, our colleagues discovered this during inspection, but after weighing the risks, the SAA decided to stop the activity. With numerous cats and dogs at the association, the consequences would be unimaginable if someone were to use us to introduce a swarm of cockroaches that could spread everywhere.

The old bedsheet collection program was therefore forced to stop. Nevertheless, I still want to try another way to help them.
After speaking with colleagues at SAA, I learned that SAA, the Society for Abandoned Animals, has always been financially strained because, frankly, there are many abandoned cats and dogs in Hong Kong. The number of adoptions has always been limited, and it's also difficult to get people to donate. Additionally, the association is about to relocate and truly needs financial support.
Therefore, this time, I'm trying again! We are collaborating with SAA, the Society for Abandoned Animals, to launch a series of co-branded bedding products, including bedsheets, duvet covers, and quilts. 20% of the sales price of these co-branded bedding products will be directly donated to SAA, without deducting costs. We hope this provides another avenue for more people to support SAA's work while purchasing these animal-themed bedding products.
What is SAA?
The Society for Abandoned Animals (SAA), established in 1997, is a government-recognized charity and one of Hong Kong's largest animal shelters. Its main mission is to provide shelter for abandoned animals and help them find new homes. It also operates an animal medical center, offering services such as medical care, blood donation, and spaying/neutering. The SAA also organizes various public education activities. The association's operations are primarily sustained through public donations and fundraising events.
The SAA is committed to finding a home for every animal and caring for them until the end of their lives, regardless of whether they have been abandoned, are disabled, old, or sick. The SAA upholds a no-kill, no-abandonment policy.

#3 SAA Sofa Blanket
The third bedding item in the Re Pillow Co. x SAA collaboration series is the "Sofa Blanket"! This is a smaller, thin blanket (115 x 170cm) that is easy to carry and versatile, perfect for use at the office, on the sofa at home, in a studio, or even when traveling.
*The sofa blanket has a different design on each side: one side features a floral pattern, and the other has a large blue pattern*
*Due to its smaller size, this blanket is not recommended for use as a regular nighttime sleeping blanket, as it may not cover your legs sufficiently
Re Pillow Co. x SAA Sofa Throws are double-sided. One side features a floral pattern, and the other is a large blue animal moving pattern, depicting animals from the association.
This sofa throw is perfect for napping or watching movies on the sofa during the weekend.
The sofa blanket can also be used as a cover when resting.

Finally, of course, there's the practical and universally useful air-conditioning quilt.
This animal-themed air-conditioning quilt features floral SAA series fabric on both sides. The minimalist beige floral design can blend into anyone's home environment and suit various preferences.

The duvet features a 100% tightly woven cotton outer fabric, which is soft, breathable, and smooth to the touch. The inner filling is made of thin and light synthetic fibers, making the duvet even softer and machine washable.

The Re Pillow Co. x SAA Air-Conditioning Quilt is available in two sizes: "Single (60" x 90")" and "Double (80" x 90")", both of which are standard sizes, so there's always one that fits.
How thick is the animal air conditioning blanket?
The sofa blankets and air-conditioning quilts from the Re Pillow Co. x SAA collaboration series are thinner, suitable for use in Hong Kong's summer. They are not too thick; customers can refer to the images of the blankets above to understand their thickness. If customers are using our Re Quilt 3 / latest Re Quilt 4 duvet or are considering between the two, please note: the Re Quilt 3 / latest Re Quilt 4 duvet is thicker, as it is designed for use for most days of the year, approximately between 18°C - 25°C. The blankets from this collaboration series, on the other hand, are thinner and more suitable for temperatures above 23°C – specifically, air-conditioning quilts for summer use.
Do I need to put on a duvet cover for the air conditioner?
You can add one or not. Since the quilt itself already has a printed pattern and is washable, you can use it directly. However, you can also add a duvet cover for protection and better hygiene, depending on your personal preference. To accommodate both uses, we've designed this summer quilt with diagonal fabric ties at all four corners, which can be used to attach a duvet cover. There are also small loops at the midpoint of each side, making it easy to secure the quilt at 8 points when inserting it into a duvet cover. This design perfectly matches our "Re Cover Re Covers" and the positioning points of most duvet covers on the market.
If you look closely at the picture above, you can see that the quilt has diagonal fabric straps to help with positioning when putting on the duvet cover.

More Information
All bedding in the Re Pillow Co. x SAA collaboration collection uses our Gen. 2 cotton as fabric. It is made of 100% pure cotton, and the animal bed sheets have the softness and comfortable breathability of pure cotton. Due to their high-density weave, they are smoother and more skin-friendly than most cotton bedding on the market. For quilts, to make them softer and washable, all quilts in the collection use thin and light synthetic fibers as filler.
More importantly, whether it's sheets, duvet covers, or quilts, we have pre-shrunk all bedding to make the fabric thicker, and they can be washed in a washing machine and dryer like regular clothes, making them easy to care for.

Conclusion
The first time I told some business friends that I wanted to collaborate with SAA (Society for Abandoned Animals), they laughed.
I understood why. These kinds of endeavors are often thankless. You might earn applause, but they also come with a lot of additional operational costs, and there will always be those who cynically dismiss it as "attention-seeking" or "praise-hunting," making it very difficult. In fact, as mentioned earlier, our previous "Old Bedsheet Collection Program" encountered difficulties in implementation that are proving hard to resolve for now (with limited space in stores, it's genuinely challenging to ask each donor to unroll and inspect every bedsheet they donate). It's truly not easy.
The Re Pillow Co. x SAA collaborative series is actually my second attempt. I wanted to see if "doing good" by helping animal organizations could extend beyond adoption or donations. Could people do good while shopping? That's why you'll notice the prices for the Re Pillow Co. x SAA collaborative series products aren't particularly expensive; they are similar to our other product prices. This is because I want to integrate donations into everyday shopping, and I hope to encourage more people to try purchasing and support this initiative.
As I write this, it's still unknown whether this collaboration with SAA will be successful, or if we'll encounter new problems. But I'm doing my best to try, and I hope everyone enjoys this Re Pillow Co. x SAA animal bedding collaboration series.
