The short version · Re Pillow 3 → Re Pillow 4

  • What you love stays: Signature fill, the same feel, adjustable height, Pro Add-On, made in Hong Kong — still the Re Pillow you know.
  • New fabric: from US NANOTEX® water-and-stain-resistant cloth to German Rudolf® HYDROCOOL® moisture-wicking fabric.
  • Waterproofing, deliberately dropped: in return, cooler and more breathable, especially through a long Hong Kong summer night.
  • A little longer: standard size from 25×15 inches → 27×15 inches, so turning over is easier.

To you, if you just want to sleep better

Do you know someone who likes taking things apart, tinkering, making small wooden bits? Maybe your dad, or a friend. I’m Ryan, an ordinary person who grew up in Hong Kong, and I’m that type. I enjoy turning an idea in my head into a real product.

In early 2020 I was sleeping badly — stiff shoulders, waking at night — and I kept looking for a new pillow. I still slept badly. I couldn’t find one that fitted me, so I decided to make one myself.

That was the start of the pandemic; university had gone online, which gave me time to throw myself into this “pillow project” (yes, that’s really what I called it).

枕頭高度-枕頭推薦

I bought and tried a lot of pillows, then took them apart to see how the materials behaved. I stacked fills, mixed them, even put new materials of my own inside, hunting for a pillow that actually worked. After dozens of prototypes, at the end of 2020 I finally had one I was happy to sleep on — the first Re Pillow.

I talked about the whole process with friends, and sometimes asked them to try a prototype. More and more people wanted one, so I started making small batches. Then friends told friends, and Re Pillow Co. began that way.

(The longer version is here . We’re also grateful for the press coverage; that’s here.)

The longer origin story

枕頭高度-枕頭太高

The core of Re Pillow — adjustable by design

The pillow market is noisy — space-age foams, pressure relief, all sorts of claims. After you actually sleep on them, a familiar thing happens: it feels fine at first, then after a few nights it’s just slightly off, as if it isn’t quite yours .

That’s the problem I wanted to solve. Everyone’s head, neck and shoulders are different. How could one fixed pillow fit everyone?

After buying too many “viral” pillows and being disappointed, I learned this: a pillow that works for someone else may not work for you. They aren’t lying. Height and shape are personal, and sometimes you only know after a few nights — you can’t decide that at the shop counter.

So I wanted a pillow you can fine-tune at home after you buy it. One pillow, adjustable to you, so you don’t have to keep buying another. That was the first Re Pillow.

The idea caught on quickly: we kept selling out. People liked a pillow they had never seen before — one they could adjust themselves. Friends told friends. The press started writing about it too:

After the rush

What matters is what you do next.

I think the work is listening: what people love and don’t want changed, and where we can still do better.

I’ve used Google Forms, email, phone calls, and chats in the shop — all for a simple wish: to make a genuinely good pillow.

That idea has stayed the same from the first Re Pillow in mid-2020 to Re Pillow 4 at the end of 2026. Seven years, still trying to solve the pillow problem, because I’ve bought too many that weren’t right.

This is Re Pillow 4: still the Re Pillow people like, with the details improved.

Inside|The Signature fill you already love

Re Pillow枕頭-枕頭內芯

When I design a new Re Pillow, I always ask: should I change the fill everyone already likes?

A lot of brands switch the fill every time they launch a “new” pillow, so it feels innovative. It made me ask:

If every brand changes material every year, who actually learns one material well enough to get the most out of it?

Making a pillow well takes time. Feeling new doesn’t matter to me. Sleeping well does. If I chased novelty the way other bedding companies do, I wouldn’t sleep either.

The fill we started using from Re Pillow 2 has been tuned several times and is now on its sixth version — fibre thickness, shape, length, the blend. It’s mature, and many of you came because a friend said the fill was the reason. So for Re Pillow 4 I kept it: our own Signature fill.

Meet the Signature fill

Re Pillow 3-枕芯推薦

The fill is the pillow. Re Pillow 4 uses our own Signature fill, tested by a lot of people. Soft down-like microfibre plus springier pearl fibre — one soft, one supportive — so it feels lofty, but still holds your neck. Like sleeping on a cloud, if a cloud had a bit of chew.

Ordinary cotton pillows (hotel pillows, for example) collapse, and your neck has nothing to rest on. The pearl fibre in Signature is made into little coils, like tiny springs, so it lasts and bounces back better than a plain cotton pillow, and you’re less likely to wake with a stiff neck.

A customer once said it feels like honey-oat bread . I’d say more like the bread you get before a Western meal: substantial, a little springy, not empty-soft.

And Re Pillow is best known for the adjustable fill

Simple to explain. Genuinely useful.

A pillow has to feel right, and the height has to be right.

Bodies, sleep positions and height preferences differ. A fixed-shape pillow cannot fit everyone. Re Pillow isn’t a fixed height or a moulded shape.

Re Pillow 4 has a zip along the side so you can take fill out or put it back, and dial in your own height — like a custom pillow, without the gamble of buying the wrong one. We also slightly overfill it at the factory, so you have room to go up or down.

We still use a Japanese YKK® invisible zip — the one we trust to stay smooth after years of opening. A pillow should last. I don’t want the whole thing to fail because a zip rusted or the pull snapped. Use the best, make the best.

Q: Where do I keep the fill I take out?

Every pillow comes with a zip bag for the extra fill.

Outside|New German HYDROCOOL® fabric

Re Pillow 4, with Germany’s Rudolf® Group

The shell matters as much as the fill. From the first Re Pillow we used NANOTEX® as a water- and stain-resistant cover, so spills and long use wouldn’t wreck the pillow.

NANOTEX® is already more breathable than most waterproof cloths, and we added other tricks for temperature. But waterproofing always costs you something. On a hot Hong Kong night, if you sleep warm, it can still feel a bit stuffy. That was the unfinished part of the first three generations. For the fourth, we changed it.

HYDROCOOL® by Rudolf®

We dropped waterproofing, for a cooler night

To sleep comfortably, moisture from your skin has to evaporate. NANOTEX® does breathe, but the water- and stain-resistant finish works against that.

So for Re Pillow 4 I let go of waterproofing, and used Rudolf® HYDROCOOL® instead, to manage temperature through the night. This is the Re Pillow we think we’ve made best.

What HYDROCOOL® actually does

1. Pulls moisture off the skin quickly

On a humid Hong Kong night, if you sweat a little, the fabric catches it before it sits on your skin.

2. Stronger capillary action

HYDROCOOL® makes the fibres hydrophilic, so moisture is pulled through the cloth to the outside instead of staying put and feeling hot.

3. Spreads out and evaporates fast

Once moisture reaches the surface, it spreads, so it meets more air and dries quickly.

4. A cooling feel

Evaporation takes heat with it, so the pillow doesn’t feel stuffy.

All of that is just: sleep cooler, sleep more comfortably, night after night.

Q: If it isn’t waterproof, what if it gets dirty?

Most people use a pillowcase, so the pillow itself rarely gets filthy. And unlike a lot of pillows, Re Pillow 4 can go in the washing machine and the dryer (take the Pro Add-On out first if you have one; for a faster dry you can wash the cover only). HYDROCOOL® is also more hydrophilic, so it washes cleaner than any earlier Re Pillow.

Easy to wash

The whole pillow can go in the washer and dryer

枕頭清洗-洗枕頭

I think about every detail because I sleep on this too. A pillow sits against your face, so being able to wash the whole thing matters. Memory foam, latex and most cotton pillows can’t go in the machine.

Re Pillow 4 can be washed whole, by hand or machine (remove the Pro Add-On first if fitted). Still: use a pillowcase, and wash that often.

In a long machine cycle, water gets in through the zip and seams. After washing, don’t just leave it damp — tumble dry so the fill is fully dry before you sleep on it again.

Made in Hong Kong

I want to keep making pillows in Hong Kong. We buy what we can’t make — from Southeast Asia, Germany, China, Japan — then sew Re Pillow in our own factory in Kwai Chung.

香港製造-枕頭推薦香港

Most bedding brands outsource the pillow. I don’t, because you breathe next to it for hours. Making it here means the process is visible and quality is easier to hold. It also means we can restock and ship faster.

One more thing: we don’t wave “Made in Hong Kong” as a guilt trip. We just want the product to be good. That’s why this section comes last. It shouldn’t be the point. The pillow should.

P.S.

Do you like a high pillow? Have you ever stacked two pillows when the old one went flat? I have. It’s usually too high, and one pillow is then too low.

From the first generation we overfill Re Pillow on purpose — about 130–150% of a normal pillow — so high-pillow people have enough, and low-pillow people can take some out and keep it.

That’s enough for most people. Some still want it higher, or extra fill to experiment, or a top-up years later when it has settled.

I get that. So here’s something extra.

I used to have a house full of almost-right pillows I couldn’t throw away. Height is personal; you often only know at home. And no fill stays lofty forever.

That’s why we make the Refill Pack.

舊枕頭-枕頭香港

Each pack is about 50% of the Signature fill in a standard Re Pillow 4.

And the nice part:

Once you own a Re Pillow 4, any size, any time, you can buy a Refill Pack at a better price.

Whether you like it high, or just want to refresh the fill later, you can.

The pillow stays yours longer. You don’t have to bin it and start again.

That’s Re Pillow —

the pillow, redefined.

One More Thing...

A pillow is personal. Some like it high, some low, and shape is just as fussy.

I didn’t make the usual moulded “orthopaedic” pillows for a long time, because the shop demo often feels fine, then a week later the height or the curve is wrong — and because the shape is fixed, you can’t fix it.

Those pillows are moulded. A bestseller still might not be your pillow.

Nobody’s cheating you. Pillows are that personal.

Even when there are sizes, it’s easy to pick the wrong one.

That’s why Re Pillow stayed a fill pillow: unzip the side and change the amount until it feels right.

Talking to customers, though, some people really do want a shaped pillow for more neck support — and they still get stuck with the wrong one, with no way to adjust at home. I wanted a way through that.

After a lot of tests, this is it:

Re Pillow 3-護頸枕頭

What Pro Add-On is

Pro Add-On is a separate piece you can put into Re Pillow 3 or Re Pillow 4. It gives the pillow more shape and more neck support. Pictures help more than words:

Re Pillow-護頸枕頭

Re Pillow 3 and Re Pillow 4 have a long zip along one side, so you can change the fill and the height.

Pro Add-On goes in through that opening. It splits the pillow into two zones, so you can set neck and head height separately, and have more control over the whole shape.

A Pro Add-On you can thicken

枕頭高度-健康枕頭

Pro Add-On has three parts: a centre cylinder and two wrap layers, all 100% Thai latex. Putting on a wrap is like putting on a jacket: slide it on, close the YKK invisible zip, and change the thickness to what you like.

Two ways to sleep on it

枕頭高度-枕頭承托力

A lot of you love the Signature fill, so I kept that in the mix. Pro Add-On divides the pillow, so you can sleep on the latex side or on the Signature side for your neck, and switch. Both sides stay adjustable. You get shape without losing the thing Re Pillow is for: making it yours.

Looking for another size?

The extra-long Re Pillow 3 XL (40×15 inches, about a metre) and Re Pillow 3 mini (19×12 inches, roughly a child’s pillow) are not in Re Pillow 4 yet. You can still get those sizes in Re Pillow 3. Both generations use the same fill. The differences are the fabric and the length:

  • Re Pillow 3 uses US Nanotex® waterproof fabric. Each face is 25×15 inches.
  • Re Pillow 4 uses German HYDROCOOL® moisture-wicking fabric — cooler and more breathable. Each face is 27×15 inches, a little longer so turning over is easier.
