The map-themed bed sheet, which we've been talking about for half a year, was finally released this week. For details about the sheet, you can check out this page: https://repillow.co/maps , so I won't go into detail here. But honestly, it's really beautifully made. As a special edition top sheet, it finally fulfills a wish of mine, and it's finally released before the end of the year, giving everyone a new style of bed sheet to celebrate Christmas.
Last November, when we first launched our new bed sheets, we only offered solid colors. There were many reasons for this, but I can briefly explain: Firstly, strategically, starting out with solid colors made it easier to get off to a good start because the styles would be more acceptable to most people. With patterned sheets, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, making it harder to ensure the styles would appeal to different people. I understand that some people might find solid colors too monotonous, but undeniably, they are easier to be considered "acceptable" or "okay, we can use them" compared to patterned ones. For example, colors like gray, beige, green, and light blue are generally well-received. This made it easier for us to implement the "try out new sheets" concept – essentially "changing sheets with a zipper." After all, when we launched the "new bed sheets" around this time last year, I know it's easy to say "hindsight is 20/20" now, but at the time I was really worried that the product wouldn't be popular, and business was really bad. If we made a mistake, we might not have survived. The "new bed sheets" were launched against this backdrop, starting with six colors and four sizes.
When we first started making new bed sheets, we received questions from customers such as why there were no patterns, why the solid colors were so monotonous, whether we could have cartoon designs, why we didn't do Chiikawa, whether we could collaborate with Disney on a cartoon, and whether our solid colors were too jarring and whether we could add some patterns. Of course, I heard all of these questions and took them to heart. But at that time, I was trying to implement this "new bed sheet" concept with limited resources and the company's future uncertain. That was the only way to start.
Therefore, the transition from business to industry was a painful process. I had to learn to endure the transition and the fact that reality sometimes doesn't match my expectations. Ideally, I had many wonderful visions for new bed sheets, but while dreams and visions are good, reality requires time. I need to slowly build up a user base for new bed sheets and realize these visions step by step.
Even today, thankfully, the new bed sheets are welcomed and loved by users, but it is still in its early stages and the future remains uncertain. The cruelty of the world is that no one will sympathize with you because of your hard work. Survival of the fittest is the reality and the way the world is. There is no reason to complain or grumble, so we still need to keep working hard.
