#057 Perfume Thief, RQ2 Officially Launched, Thank You to Everyone Who Supported Us (02/07/2023)

This is the start of a new week's journal entry. Before I begin, there's a small thing I'd like to mention: thank you for reading this now. Here's what happened: This Monday, a customer went to our shop in Tsim Sha Tsui and told our staff that the perfume would be discounted, so they specifically came to buy it. To be honest, I haven't discussed the perfume discount with any other colleagues in the company, nor have I mentioned it anywhere else, except for what I wrote in last week's journal.

So I realized that besides myself, other people were also reading this journal entry, so I want to thank you for your support (I'm sure you know I'm talking about you), whether it's supporting this failed Re Fresh perfume line or reading my journal entry, thank you. And thank you to everyone else reading it.

Oh yes. Just now I mentioned that the Re Fresh project failed, so I'm posting a link here. Perhaps soon, when some customers buy pillows, they'll smell them before paying and like them before adding them to their cart.

Perfume Thief

Let's move on to today's first topic: perfume thieves.

Earlier this week, two customers mentioned that their newly purchased perfumes were only half-empty when they arrived home and were opened! Below are pictures provided by the customers:

Receiving this message was really embarrassing, because it felt like we'd tricked them, or somehow managed to steal some perfume... And the fact that two customers had encountered this situation was even more unusual, and I felt incredibly sorry. So I asked the store staff to check the inventory, and then I checked at the factory myself, and found that they all had the same problem; about one in 30 bottles was like that.

Could there be a perfume thief?! Is someone stealing it?

Haha, of course not. In the end, we came to the conclusion that some of the perfume bottles weren't completely sealed, and they may have evaporated during the months they were left out. Oh, I see.

After learning about it, we tightened all the caps and removed the problematic perfume. Hopefully, this problem won't happen again!

RQ2 officially launched

Re Quilt 2 has officially launched, and I finally feel a sense of relief. For a while now, it felt like I was constantly working, working, working, and then seeing that business was slow, the stores were quiet, and no one was buying from the website. Sometimes colleagues or customers would ask when Re Quilt 2 would be released, and I knew they genuinely wanted to know. This added to the pressure, and all I could say was "as soon as possible," telling myself I couldn't give up, I had to do my best, persevere, and not disappoint. Finally, finally, it's released! It launched on Wednesday, and I'm writing this in my journal on Friday night. These past two days have felt so much easier. First, I don't have a headache anymore, and second, I feel happy every moment. Whether it sells well or not is secondary; the most important thing is the feeling of accomplishment: finally revealing the results of my long-term efforts to the world, releasing a huge amount of pressure. This feeling is so liberating.

But it'll be back soon. We need to get another product launched by the end of the year done as quickly as possible, otherwise the pressure will increase again. Experience teaches us a lesson; we need to start product development earlier.
