Attentive customers might notice that the first-generation Re Pillow was launched in October 2020, while the Re Pillow 2 was launched in August 2021, about a year apart. Now it's September 2022, so: will the Re Pillow 3 be released soon?
This week's journal entry will focus on the Re Pillow 3. Indeed, at the beginning of this year, I was expecting the third-generation Re Pillow to launch around September or October, which would fit the roughly one-year gap between our Re Pillow and Re Pillow 2. However, I quickly abandoned that idea, mainly for three reasons:
- Instead of creating a new generation, we'll incorporate key improvements directly into Re Pillow 2 as soon as possible, allowing users to benefit quickly: Instead of a yearly update (meaning the Re Pillow 2 will be identical from its initial release in August 2021 to its final release), I've decided to incorporate these updates into the product as soon as possible after minor improvements and internal testing. The overall appearance may not be noticeably different, but the internal components will be improved. Re Pillow 2 has been on the market for a year and is now in its third version. In January of this year, we improved the outer fabric for greater softness and comfort, and redesigned the zipper pull for a more comfortable grip. In mid-June, we also improved the elasticity and durability of the filling material. The new version will be more resilient after prolonged use and less prone to settling. In fact, Re Pillow 2 was already better than other filled pillows (or "cotton pillows") in this respect, and this latest version represents a further refinement. This is actually an advancement in the science of cotton fiber in the inner lining. We aspire to be experts in this field. Therefore, the current Re Pillow 2 (along with the mini and XL, which are also being updated simultaneously) can actually be considered Re Pillow 2.5. This way, users don't have to wait for the next generation to experience our best research and design. We will continue to update, and we will never deliberately hide features and save them for the next generation. The products we sell will be the best we can achieve.
- Global supply chain tensions and severe inflation are another reason why we are hesitant to launch the next-generation Re Pillow 3 at this time. As those who follow international news may know, global supply chains are currently very strained, with energy prices and inflation in Europe being particularly high. This has impacted the supply of several of our raw materials. Launching a completely new product now would significantly increase costs. Ultimately, consumers would have to bear the added costs, which I don't think is ideal. Given the significant difference, a better approach might be to wait for the situation in Europe to stabilize before proceeding with the new product. In the current uncertain economic climate, significantly increasing the price of our products due to cost issues might not be suitable for the Hong Kong market. I believe that brands ultimately need to be responsible to their customers. Making wrong decisions and ignoring costs, leaving customers to bear the consequences, is simply unacceptable.
- Spend more time researching and improving: this probably doesn't need explanation, but it's a fact. Don't rush, make sure it's perfect before releasing it. Actually, Re Pillow 2 was a significant improvement over the first generation, so I have high expectations for Re Pillow 3, hoping it will also show great progress and live up to the Re Pillow 3 name.
That concludes the update regarding Re Pillow.
In addition, we also added a video tutorial to the pillow instruction manual this week, teaching everyone how to adjust the pillow / shake the pillow after long-term use. We also want to update it here! We believe it will be helpful.
